1. Lumiere Education

A paid program where a student is matched to an individual graduate or enrolled in a specific program designed to help students learn about research and actually perform research. There is a research fellowship competition, which is highly selective, that helps a student publish research.

2. Girls Who Code Summer Program
Engineering & Computer Science / Selectivity: medium / Prestige: high
Girls who code is a widely-known, highly-regarded extracurricular. Although involvement in the club isn't inherently unique, you can distinguish yourself by taking on leadership positions. Offer two programs: A 2-week immersion program or a 6-week self-paced experience, both of which teach introductory to intermediate CS concepts. Girls who code as an organization tend not to be selective, but the programs do have limited space available.

3. Pioneer Academics
All Majors / Research / Selectivity: medium / Prestige: medium
Pioneer Academics is a selective online research program that connects high school students worldwide with university professors to conduct college-level research in various academic fields. The program offers one-on-one mentorship, rigorous research training, and the opportunity to publish research papers. It is highly regarded for its academic intensity and is recognized by top universities for its emphasis on independent research skills.

4. Economics for Leaders
Humanities, Econ, Business / Selectivity: low / Prestige: medium
This is a popular leadership summer program on-campus, to choose from many different Ivy League / Top 10 colleges. Highly recommended since selectivity is low (easy application).

5. UC Santa Barbara Research Mentorship Program
All majors / Selectivity: high / Prestige: high
A summer program that engages qualified, high-achieving high school students from all over the world in interdisciplinary, hands-on, university-level research. Students will be paired up with a mentor (graduate student, postdoc, or faculty) and choose a research project from a large list of disciplines offered by the program each year.

6. Pre-college Programs
All majors / Selectivity: high / Prestige: high
Top schools offer college-level courses for international high school students. Some courses are onsite or online. Limited spaces are available. We recommend students apply to a few schools that they’re highly interested in.
