A Bit About Me
Hello, I'm Sungwoong Choi, also known as Leo, the Founder of Paschal Consulting, the guardian angel of your educational dreams.
I graduated from elementary school in Korea, attended middle school in Guatemala for grades 7-8, and studied in Venezuela for grades 9-10. During these four years at international schools in Latin America, I had my first study abroad experience, learning English well and reading about 200 English books to improve my language skills.
After returning to Korea, I was admitted to and graduated from Yongin Foreign Language High School. I was then accepted by both Princeton and Stanford University, choosing to attend Princeton where I majored in Molecular Biology, graduating magna cum laude. After college, I was admitted to Stanford Medical School's Genetics PhD program as the only international student, receiving tuition and scholarships.
Currently, I have set aside the Stanford acceptance to train as a CEO at a domestic pharmaceutical startup while leading the research division. Additionally, I have been running Paschal Consulting, my lifelong side job, since 2018.
After being accepted to Princeton, I tutored juniors on their Common App applications every year. One of my tutees, who was also receiving help from a well-known domestic study abroad agency, found out that the agency knew little about US college admissions. Their essays were flashy but severely lacking in substance.
To address this issue, I founded Paschal Consulting in 2018 during my junior year of college. We selected the best writers from Ivy League and top 10 US universities to help Korean high school students with their Common App applications, especially their essays.
Paschal Consulting started as my lifelong side job, beginning with 10 students. The number of students we helped doubled each year, and in the 2021 season, we assisted 80 students.
High school students often struggle to know which exams to take or activities to pursue. Trying various activities can lead to less focus compared to peers who concentrate on one thing, and focusing on one activity might prevent them from discovering what they truly want.
Through helping with applications, I realized that writing college applications is a form of life coaching. It involves articulating who you are, your upbringing, current classes and activities, and how you want to live in the future.
Life coaching is about guiding students to align their school life with their dreams, allowing them to live more purposefully during high school.
Paschal Consulting mentors are top experts in their fields. Receiving direct guidance and feedback from such individuals is rare. Our business model recruits these experts to guide 1-2 students a year, providing them with an additional income stream. This approach is quite different from other consulting firms and study abroad agencies.
Our mentors range from current students to graduates, postgraduates, and professionals. What they all have in common is excellence in college application consulting and preparation. This success comes from effectively designing and executing their future plans.
There is no free lunch. The help we provide can also come from teachers, family, or friends. What we guarantee is integrity and excellence, backed by proven results. We believe in justifying our fees with the value we provide, which is why we offer both package and hourly consulting.
My goal is to run Paschal Consulting with sincerity, guiding students through life and helping them achieve admissions success as a bonus. All educational resources we provide will be available for free on our website, so please make sure to check them out.
Thank you.
