Ever since I picked up a crayon at two years old, visual art has always been my passion. In high school, I took classes ranging from Applied Design (including graphics, architecture and woodworks) to Home Economics (including fashion and interior design). I took various design courses, painting classes and even jewelry-making workshops, anything to get my hands on a creative activity.
Art has grown with me throughout the years, and I cannot imagine a future career that doesn’t involve art or design.
Steinhardt School at NYU offers intensive programs that are academically challenging and stimulating. The highly concentrated and specialized courses for Studio Art would enable me to focus on my area of interest and thoroughly explore the subject. I am also interested in Urban Design and Architecture Studies at College of Arts and Science, which is my alternate choice of major. I am particularly interested in cross-school minors at NYU, since I would like to explore and extend beyond my chosen major. I am keen on combining business or other humanities subjects with Studio Art or Urban Design in order to see where my current interests and skills lead me in the future.
The beautiful landscape of the modern campus blended in with the busy streets of New York excites me. The urban location would surely inspire me and keep me occupied all the time. The fact that I would be a few bus stops away from many renowned art galleries and museums of New York thrills me.
I believe NYU is a highly artistic and cultural environment; its reputation for great bands, orchestras and societies is what attracts me. I wish to utilize NYU’s network of galleries and theatres, and participate in cultural and musical activities, building on my high school extracurricular.
Having grown up in various countries, I could not imagine life without diversity. I have met people of different religion, race and culture, which helped me to broaden my perspective. I value NYU’s emphasis on the diverse student body; situated in the heart of America, individuals from all around the world are united at the university. I would love to have the chance to interact with unique personalities that would keep me engaged and cultivated.
I consider NYU as a gateway to the vast world of art; provided with a plethora of incredible opportunities, I believe I would mature as an artist and make exceptional experiences.
